Students may enroll in 1–8 units of WEE 97 each semester. For each unit, students must complete 52.5 hours of work during the semester.

In addition to completing work hours, students will complete approximately 15 hours of coursework in Canvas. Assignments are designed to support a student's professional growth and may include:
- Setting learning goals with the job site supervisor
- Meeting with the assigned Work Experience instructor during the semester
- Developing or updating a résumé
- Completing a career exploration activity
- Writing a reflective essay
