Supervisors play an important role in supporting Santa Rosa Junior College students as they gain hands-on experience in the workplace. When hosting a student participating in Work Experience Education (WEE), employers help connect classroom learning with real-world application.
To support a meaningful learning experience, employers are expected to:
- Complete the Supervisor Participation Agreement (SPA) Form
The WEE department requires confirmation that the employer agrees to supervise each SRJC student enrolled in a WEE course. You will receive an electronic SPA form from the student to review and acknowledge your role as the site supervisor. - Provide meaningful work experience
Assign tasks and responsibilities that help the student develop skills related to their academic program or career goals. - Offer supervision and mentorship
Designate a supervisor who can provide guidance, answer questions, and help the student learn workplace expectations and professional practices. - Review and support learning goals
Students will develop learning objectives for the semester. Supervisors will be asked to review and acknowledge these goals to ensure the work experience supports the student’s learning. - Maintain a safe and professional work environment
Employers should provide a workplace that follows applicable labor laws and promotes a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment for students. - Provide feedback on student performance
The WEE instructor will conduct a site visit at the end of the semester to review the student’s learning objectives and discuss the student’s progress in the workplace. - Verify work hours when requested
Students are required to document their work hours as part of their WEE course. Employers will be asked to confirm these hours.
